Four charities based in West Yorkshire have received a £1,000 Christmas gift thanks to the Benefact Group.
The charities were nominated to win a share of £120,000 by members of the public as part of the Benefact Group’s annual 12 days of giving Christmas campaign.
The Friends of Farsley Rehoboth Burial Ground, a charity group working to restore a local burial ground, and Holmfirth Civic Hall Community Trust, which provides a space for the local community and fundraises to keep the civic hall in community hands (see notes for full list), are among the local charities set to benefit from the money following overwhelming public support in the area.
Over 6,400 West Yorkshire residents nominated a cause close to their hearts, with 4,800 charitable causes in the area receiving votes. The 120 winning charities across the UK were picked at random from those nominated.

A representative from the Holmfirth Civic Hall Community Trust said:
“Thank you to the Benefact Group for their support from the 12 days of giving. The Civic Holmfirth is a community building run in our community, by our community and for our community and the support received will assist us through the cost of living crisis. Thank you.”
