Australia’s best known children’s stationery brand, Smiggle is to open its first store in the North East, at intu Metrocentre, Gateshead, this week.
The colourful children’s store will stock everything from bright and bold stationery, bags and lunchboxes, to accessories and gadgets – and intu Metrocentre’s Head of Fun will be on hand to welcome the Smiggle team.
The store will open on Friday 10 July, with giveaways, and some family fun with the Metrognomes and an official visit from the centre’s new Head of Fun, Mackenzie Toal.
John Cheston, Smiggle’s managing director, said: “It’s important to us to inject fun into everything we do. From product design to store design, we will always focus on delivering to our fans the most original and playful stationery possible.”

Mackenzie Toal, intu Metrocentre’s Head of Fun said, “It’s really exciting to have more fun, kids’ stores in the centre.
“I can’t wait to see what they have and maybe it will make homework much more fun to do.”
Smiggle officially opens to the public in Lower Red Mall, intu Metrocentre on Friday 10 July.
