A second consecutive hundred from Tammy Beaumont took England to a seven-wicket win over South Africa at The Spitfire Ground, Canterbury and secured a 2-1 series victory for the hosts.

The England opener scored 105 and put on 151 with captain Heather Knight (80*) to lead a successful chase of 228.

A confident batting performance came off the back of a disciplined and patient effort with the ball. South Africa won the toss but were restricted throughout their innings, prompting a mad-cap last 10 overs which saw eight wickets fall for 67 runs.

Katherine Brunt continued her good form to take 3-52 and19-year-old spinner Sophie Ecclestone was again impressive, recording figures of 10-2-25-1.

It was a strong showing from an England side that was stung by their under-par performance in the first ODI at Worcester, but who have since bounced back under pressure to win the series.

The series win sees them claim four ICC Women’s Championship points (to South Africa’s two) and they’ll next be in action at Taunton on Wednesday June 20, against the same opposition in their first game of the IT20 tri-series.
