Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Boost for Darlington jobs Fair

Darlington’s Jobs and Careers Fair is going from strength to strength as more businesses sign up to the event taking place on Thursday 10 October, 10am-2pm at the Dolphin Centre.

Army Careers and Middleton Hall Retirement Village will now be amongst thirty exhibitors at the event which will offer hundreds of vacancies and training opportunities across the region.

In addition, the Let’s Go Tees Valley team will be on hand with details of their Darlington New Worker Week Ticket which offers help with travel to work in Darlington.

The free event will give local people of all ages and experience the chance to find out what’s on offer in Darlington and beyond in terms of employment, training and business start-up support, all under one roof.

Other businesses already signed up and who have vacancies, or who will soon be recruiting for a range of roles, are: EE, Darlington Borough Council, Vale of Mowbray, Arriva, Vue Cinemas, Stone Technical Services, Aldi, Blossom Home Care, Rockliffe Hall and Ascot Care.

Roles are on offer across a range of sectors, levels and contract types including full and part time, entry level and management positions.

Advice and support organisations include: Darlington College, Job Centre Plus, National Careers Service, Enterprise Made Simple (self-employment support and advice), Morrison Trust, who provide CV, interview skills and support, Routes to Work, Darlington Citizens Advice and Learning & Skills.

The event follows on from the success of last year’s Fair which saw more than 750 people attend, some of whom were recruited on the day.

Councillor Alan Marshall, Darlington Borough Council’s cabinet member for Economy and Regeneration, said: “I’m delighted to welcome more businesses on board to this popular event which will help local people to find the work or career path that suits them.

“With thirty stands, this is now bigger than last year’s event. I urge anyone looking for a job or advice on a career change to come along.”

The recruitment fair is part of Darlington Business Week (Monday 7 – Friday 11 October) – offering a full programme of business based events aimed at encouraging Darlington businesses to network and find out more about the opportunities in Darlington and the Tees Valley.
