Looking for a great day out locally? How about a trip on the amazing Vale of Rheidol Railway? And now, for Ceredigion residents, all standard class tickets are half price until 3rd November. That includes the October Half Term week – so book early!

It is the perfect day out and a wonderful way to see the stunning Cambrian Mountains countryside from a vantage point you can only get to by train.

The Vale of Rheidol’s beautifully restored 1920s steam locomotives will take you through 12 miles of glorious Ceredigion scenery on one of the most spectacular railway journeys in the UK. Sit back and admire the view will the engine, it’s driver and fireman do all the hard work.

Travel from Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge on a trip that will take you back in time and give you a chance to enjoy your local area in a way you may not have done before!

Autumn is one of the best seasons to ride the train as the trees change colour and the falling leaves open-up the views. The low autumnal sunshine sends long shadows over the landscape below.

Once you arrive at Devil’s Bridge, you can visit the famous waterfalls and learn more about the legend that led to its name, enjoy an all-day breakfast or a cuppa and a Welshcake at Woodlands Tearoom, indulge yourself at the award-winning Sarah Bunton’s Chocolate Shop, soak up the atmosphere while enjoying a drink or a full meal at the Hafod Inn, take a walk between the railway’s restored stations on one of the many paths and trails. And when you are ready, board your train for the return journey to Aberystwyth.

There is plenty of parking at both the Aberystwyth and Devil’s Bridge stations. Return journeys can be taken in either direction.

From now until 3rd November 2024 all Ceredigion residents can buy standard class tickets for half price for themselves and their family and visiting friends. All you need to do is provide proof of address.
