COBALT LAUNCH CYCLING AMBASSADORS SCHEME

In a joint venture to encourage active travel, Cobalt Business Park and Bike 4 Health have teamed up to create an army of cycling ambassadors around the park. The primary aim is to increase the number of journeys made to and from Cobalt and beyond by bike.

Ambassadors will be equipped with the kit, training, and resources to help them become a cycle to work expert. Their knowledge can then be used in practice to help promote the benefits of cycling within the workplace and help fellow colleagues get started.

On top of full support from the Bike 4 Health ambassadors will also receive a full Bike 4 Health kit including branded waterproofs for all weather cycling, 25% discount on accessories and parts, 10% discount on selected bikes and a half day mechanic course.

The ambassador’s scheme will be a great addition to the strong partnership Cobalt has built with Bike 4 Health as they help to get more people using the Cobalt Bike Hub and taking advantage of the free MOTs and bike loans already on offer.

Amy Surtees, MORE Cobalt Manager said “Cobalt has always been a huge advocate for active travel and promoting sustainable alternatives to single occupancy car use. Two thirds of the Cobalt workface live within a five-mile radius and can easily access the park on bike.

Our work with Bike 4 Health has seen a huge increase in the popularity of cycling to work alongside the investments that have gone into the cycling infrastructure and cycling facilities around the park.

The commute to and from Cobalt has never been easier so this is an excellent time to be launching the ambassador’s scheme. Having an ambassador within each organisation in the park will only strengthen the provisions we already have in place and can help get even more staff members to think about active travel.”

Dan Wills, Marketing and Operations for Bike 4 Health said “The scheme is all about empowering people to get cycling by giving them the resources to make it a reality. That might be supporting them with training on maintenance or route planning, so they know what to do and where to ride, or inspiring them by taking them on fun events and trips. Ultimately we hope each ambassador will in turn help get more people cycling in their workplace.”
