Comprehensive Guide to basic blackjack strategy

Searching for the best ways to optimise your chances of winning in Blackjack? Are you familiar with basic Blackjack strategy? If not, then it is high time that you get yourself accustomed with these basic strategies. Keep on reading to know about the basic strategies that are necessary to increase your chances of winning in Blackjack.

Blackjack Strategy 1

The first basic Blackjack strategy is to not split if you have two 10s in one hand. As the total value of these cards adds up to 20, the dealer will have no option but to Hit in a desperate attempt to increase his total card count to as close to 2 as possible. In this case, choosing the Split option as a Blackjack strategy is a mistake as you still don’t know what the second hand will be. You could end up with a hand value which is less than 20. The odds are not good in this scenario considering the high potential of the original hand.

Blackjack Strategy 2

Don’t split the cards if you have two 5s in one hand. You can use this Blackjack strategy if you have two 4s and 10s as well. As the total value of the two 5s adds up to 10, splitting them will only result in two hands with 10 value each. This is not a good situation as having one average hand is better rather than two hands. Instead, you can opt for double down which will allow you to increase your hand count.

Blackjack Strategy 3

It is better to split your hand if you have two Aces in hand. Even if you don’t win the round, you will be able to reap the opportunity of increasing your hand count by spitting them.

Blackjack Strategy 4

It is better to split your hand if you have two 6s in one hand and the dealer has a card value that is in between 3 and 6.

Blackjack Strategy 5

If you have two 8s in one hand, then the blackjack strategy is to split the hand. The total hand adds up to 15 which is one of the worst valued hand in Blackjack. You might be able to get a hand value of 10 each by splitting the hand if you get lucky enough.

Blackjack Strategy 6

You need to always Hit if you get a 6 and an Ace or a soft 17. You should also Hit if your total hand value comes below 17. This will ensure that you have a higher hand value than what you previously had. It is preferable to double down if the dealer’s hand has 8,9 or 10.

Blackjack Strategy 7

If you have a hand of two 9s and the dealer’s hand value stays in between 2 to 6,8 and 9, the perfect Blackjack strategy is to split the cards.

Blackjack Strategy 8

It is better to surrender if the dealer has 10 and the player has a hard 15, or when the dealer has 9, 10 or A, and the player has a hard 16.
