Consultation to take Place on Proposed Crematorium

logo-landscapeTHE VIEWS of residents are being sought about a proposed crematorium to be situated in Roseworth.

On Wednesday 24 February, a consultation event will be held at Roseworth Community Social Club on Junction Road between 3.30pm and 7pm.

The drop-in session has been set up to allow residents to give their thoughts and complete feedback forms while also learning more about the potential facility which would be a modern crematorium alongside remembrance gardens.

Councillor Mike Smith, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Housing, said: “A potential crematorium, built on the former Blakeston / North Shore Academy sports field site, would provide a key service for the residents of Stockton Borough.

“With the rising population of the Borough evidence demonstrates that there is a need for this type of facility.

“We are, as ever, very keen to hear the views of local residents before moving forward on this so I would encourage everyone to drop-in to the consultation and tell us your thoughts.”

Letters are also being sent to residents in the area to invite them to comment on the proposal.

The views of residents will aid the formation of an outline planning application which would then be considered in time by the Planning Committee and they would also be part of discussions held with possible service providers.

For further information on this event or if you cannot attend and would like to submit comments on the proposal, emails to bereavement.services@stockton.gov.uk  receive and record all submissions.
