A MIDDLESBROUGH cinema will play its part later this month in the town’s growing provision for those with dementia.
Cineworld Middlesbrough’s Dementia-Friendly screening will take place on Monday, February 27.
Dementia-Friendly screenings enable people living with dementia and their carers to attend the cinema in a safe and comfortable environment, giving them the chance to get out and socialise.
Screenings are open to everyone, but are enhanced to suit the needs of people living with dementia: during the film low lights are left on inside the auditorium, the volume of the soundtrack is reduced and it’s fine for members of the audience to express themselves.
The staff on duty for these screenings have become Dementia Friends to help provide support before, during and after the screenings, as well as making the venue generally more Dementia Friendly.
Wheelchair spaces are limited so advance bookings are recommended. A flexible refund policy is in place.
Cineworld Middlesbrough’s Dementia-Friendly screening will take place on Monday, February 27 from11am, with doors opening at 10.30am.
Bookings can be made in person at the Box Office or at www.cineworld.co.uk
