Perfect for all the family – English Youth Ballet presents its charming production of Coppélia at Darlington Hippodrome on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 April featuring international principal dancers and 100 talented, local young dancers.
The comical story of Coppélia follows the escapades of the dreamy Franz and how he falls in love with a beautiful, life-like doll. The doll – Coppélia – is created by the mad inventor, Dr Coppelius. The hilarious plot thickens when Franz’s jealous lover, Swanhilda, takes her friends on an adventure into the spooky house of the mad inventor to confront her rival.
International principal dancers appearing include Phillip Tunstall, Samantha Camejo, Phillip Bolleov, Clare Carruble, Monica Tapiador & Trevor Wood. EYB’s principal dancers have joined the company from some of the world’s greatest companies including English National Ballet, La Scala and Ballet du Capitol de Toulouse.
English Youth Ballet is one of the UK’s largest dance companies and offers opportunity to young dancers aged 8 – 18 to study and perform alongside international professional dancers in beautiful venues close to where they live.
Coppélia runs at Darlington Hippodrome from Friday 13 to Saturday 14 April.
