Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Flame hoping to ‘score’ £1,500 donation for North East cancer charity

Staff at Flame Heating Group are to lace up their boots in support of a North East-based cancer charity through a company-wide football competition.

The Heating & Plumbing merchant is aiming to raise £1,500 for its chosen charity of the year, Fighting All Cancers…Together (FACT), having already brought in £1,100 in donations ahead of the event.

The tournament, one of a series of charitable initiatives Flame is hosting over the course of 2018, will take place at Goals Newcastle on 19th May. Flame is entering 10 teams, comprising of staff, suppliers and customers, as well as hosting raffles and prize giveaways on the day for FACT.

Established in 2008, FACT supports people living with cancer and their families through a range of services and operates a number of charity shops across the region. It has relationships with health professionals, support groups and services, as well as wider voluntary organisations that help to deliver a range of educational and awareness programmes in the North East.

Flame is hoping to break its fundraising record and exceed the £14,000 it raised over the course of 2017, which was in aid of South Shields man, Paul George, who suffers from relapse and remitting MS.

Jimmy Bell, Investor Director at Flame Heating Group, who has organised the tournament, said: “We are always looking at ways to raise funds, and the tournament is shaping up to be a great event, with plenty of healthy competition! FACT is an excellent local cause, which does so much for people living with and directly affected by cancer, and is a deserving charity for the company to support.

“We are now hoping to smash last year’s amazing fundraising efforts, and the football tournament is the perfect event to kick off our calendar of charitable initiatives.”
