Flame pledges £5,000 to F.A.C.T at third annual racenight

Flame Heating Group has pledged at least £5,000 to a regional cancer charity as the Heating & Plumbing merchant hosts its third annual racenight.

Fighting All Cancers Together (F.A.C.T.) is to benefit as a result of the ‘Flame The Heat Is On Racenight’ at Newcastle Racecourse, which takes place on Friday 21st September.

Flame has so far raised £1,200 for F.A.C.T, its nominated charity for 2018, following a charitable football tournament held in May. Over the course of the racenight there will be an auction, raffle, as well as the opportunity for guests to present trophies to the winning jockeys and owners.

Established in 2008, F.A.C.T. supports people living with cancer and their families, through a range of services. It has relationships with health professionals, support groups and services, as well as wider voluntary organisations that help to deliver a range of educational and awareness programmes in the North East. They also operate a number of charity shops across the region.

Last year Flame supported South Tyneside man Paul George, who has battled multiple sclerosis (MS) for over a decade and is hoping to access pioneering treatment for the condition.

Since 2016, Flame has raised in excess of £17,000 for charitable causes, with the racenight set to significantly add to this total.

John Savage, Managing Director of Flame Heating Group, said: “F.A.C.T. is an amazing regional charity that provides vital support to people living with cancer, as well as their families, which we are proud to support. Newcastle Racecourse is the ideal venue for our racenight, which has proven to be a popular event with many of our customers and suppliers, as well as their family members and friends, expected to attend.

“Over the last three years we have managed to raise a significant amount of money for many deserving causes and each racenight has contributed massively to this total raised. Hopefully we will be able to reach, if not exceed, our £5,000 target, to provide further support to F.A.C.T., and I am looking forward to another enjoyable evening at the races.”
