BRENTWOOD, Essex, 5 November, 2018 – The Ford Transit Custom commercial vehicle was Britain’s No.2 top-selling vehicle among all vehicles sold in October, only outsold by the country’s favourite car, the Ford Fiesta.
The Transit Custom range powered Ford’s share of the commercial vehicle market to 33.2 percent, up nearly two percentage points from October last year, and more than double the market share of the nearest rival. Transit Custom (including the Tourneo Custom people carrier) is now the No.3 top-selling vehicle range in Britain for the year to date.
With nearly 52,000 sold so far this year, the Transit Custom range is on-track to deliver the strongest sales result since the launch of the Custom range in 2013. Sales of the Tourneo Custom are at an all-time high, up 30 percent from last year and accounting for eight percent of Transit Custom range sales.
The Transit Custom range also is changing customers’ perceptions in the van and people carrier segments, with white now being the colour of choice for less than 45 percent of sales, and with variations of silver and grey – and fun colours like Orange Glow which was introduced this year – growing significantly in popularity.
Overall, Ford was No.1 for total vehicle sales, passenger and commercial vehicle sales, and higher margin retail sales in October. Fiesta was Britain’s No.1 top-selling car yet again for the month and year to date, and C-MAX, Galaxy, Transit Courier, Transit Connect, Transit Custom, Tourneo Custom and Ranger pickup all leading their respective market segments in October.
