Richard Wilson, Senior Associate Partner at Dodds Brown, has completed four new lettings at Barkers Arcade, adjacent to, and owned by, the renowned Barkers Department Store, bringing two new retailers to the town, allowing one tenant to expand and finding new operators for existing businesses.

Retailer of the Year Finalist 2015 for the North of England and Northern Ireland, card and gift retailer Saffrons of York is new to Northallerton and has taken Unit 8 in Barkers Arcade.

Expanding due to the continued success of the business and occupying the unit previously run by Benetton is Bay Tree Interiors, the Yorkshire based business selling Shabby Chic furniture and interiors accessories to compliment the home.

Adam Peacock trading as The Classic Touch, has taken Unit 1 as a ladies footwear and accessories shop, while Michelle Young has taken over and rebranded the former Bellina chocolate shop to Beau Cocoa in Unit 4.

Ian Barker, director of Barkers (Northallerton) Limited, the property company of Barkers Department Store said: “The two-storey glass covered Barkers Arcade, marked at its entrance by the Barkers chiming clock, is a landmark in the town and an important enhancement to our main department store.  So it is important that we attract the right tenants and Dodds Brown has helped us to achieve that.”

Mr Wilson, who acts for Barkers as letting agents, said: “With nine speciality shops in Barkers Arcade, it is vital that they complement both each other and the main department store.  Having worked for Barkers, and in the town of Northallerton, for many years it is great to see that each of the four new tenants have made a significant improvement to the Arcade which now offers an even better mix of retailers for shoppers to enjoy.”
