North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

From pond dipping for adults to bird watching for beginners, from graylings to orchids! How much do you know about the wildlife on your doorstep?

Tees Valley Wildlife Trust have developed in partnership with Middlesbrough Community Learning and as part of River Tees Rediscovered a free course for beginners about the wildlife found on two of its nature reserves in Middlesbrough and Stockton. On 25th April the first of these day long sessions will be an introduction to the wildlife of Portrack Marsh and Maze Park. With spring under way we will be looking for migrant birds, early flowers and the first butterflies of the year. The sessions start at 10.00 am with a classroom session discussing some of the wildlife that can be found on these nature reserves. This will be followed by a walk around the reserves looking for wildlife, recording what we find. We will also look at how the Wildlife Trust manages the reserves for wildlife and some of the issues connected to this.
