Leading Link, a local charity whose main vision is ‘maximising the potential of all young people’ are looking for volunteers to make a real difference to a young persons’ life.
The Bedlington based charity is looking for volunteer mentors to work on a new innovative project within Northumberland supporting young people aged eight to 18,
Volunteers already play a key role in the delivery of work within the Northumberland Adolescent Service and with even more volunteers on board, the project will be able to reach out to more young people.
No formal qualifications are needed, and free training and further opportunities for the mentor will be provided. All that is needed is for the volunteers to have a genuine interest in supporting young people, and be able to give at least two to three hours fortnightly
Joanne Money, the newly appointed project co-ordinator at Leading Link, said:
“I am delighted to be involved in such a beneficial project both for the volunteers and the young people. The volunteers will hugely benefit from developing new skills, knowledge and experience needed for a career working with young people, to feeling proud of their achievements whilst volunteering. All the volunteers will be supported by a team of professionals at all times.
“The young people who participate will not only have one-to-one access to an adult mentor, but also have the opportunity to develop the necessary skills for the future and be able to get involved with some of our bigger County events if they wished.
We are very excited to be working in partnership with the Northumberland’s County Council’s Adolescent Team and together we will be able to create an impact into the lives of our young people”.
