On Sunday (15 November) the super-sized decorations arrived in the High Street ready for the launch of Stockton Sparkles, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s winter festival.

Last year’s much-loved shimmering reindeer has returned and this time is joined by a young calf on the High Street’s plinth while a larger than life illuminated polar bear and its cub can be found outside the Town Hall, ready to delight shoppers and visitors.

The giant decorations will be switched on during the launch of Stockton Sparkles which will take place between 5.30pm and 7pm on Thursday 26 November.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, Councillor Norma Wilburn, said: “These creatures are just the latest illuminated decorations to grace the High Street.

“With the dazzling gift box on the Shambles Market Hall and a giant glittering bauble on Dovecot Street the polar bear and the reindeers will help turn Stockton into a magical winter wonderland awash with sparkling lights and glittering features. Make a date in your diary for the launch of Stockton Sparkles to see these extra special decorations come to life.”
