The TTE Technical Training Group has been commended for the high standard of training it delivers to international technicians in a new independent report.

According to the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) report, TTE exceeds expectations in all areas for the quality of the education it provides to students from across the world who attend TTE to gain valuable practical technical skills and respected qualifications.

In their report, the ISI inspectors, who spent three days at TTE, highlighted that, ‘the quality of the curriculum, teaching and learners’ achievements is excellent’.

They also noted that, ‘courses are well-planned and specifically designed to accurately meet the needs of employers with regard to students’ skills and understanding of their chosen trade’.

As a result, the inspectors reported that, ‘all students make excellent progress’ and ‘student achievement is excellent and is above national averages’.

TTE has delivered technical training and upskilling programmes for several hundred international learners in the past two decades, working with global companies including BP and Marathon Oil.

Currently, TTE has 60 technicians training at its Middlesbrough-based facility from Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea and Ghana.  On average, the technicians spend six months at TTE on residential programmes where they gain experience in the training organisation’s industry-standard workshops and simulators before embarking on their employers’ facilities throughout the world.

During their time in the North East of England, the technicians are helped by TTE’s dedicated welfare team who provide a comprehensive level of support.    This was highlighted in the ISI report, which said, ‘students’ welfare, including its health and safety, is excellent’.

The report goes on to say, ‘Pastoral support is outstanding and students appreciate the level of care and support they are given on personal and academic issues’.

The ISI is an approved Education Oversight body, authorised by the Home Office, to inspect privately-funded Further Education providers offering programmes to international students who attend UK colleges and training organisations through Tier 4 of the points-based system for student visas.

This is the second significant independent endorsement of TTE’s training provision the organisation has received in 2018.  Earlier this year TTE achieved its third-successive ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted, maintaining its position as the highest-graded Engineering and Process training provider in the Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland area.

Sara Marshall, Operations Director of TTE, said: “We are extremely proud to receive this exceptional report from ISI, which further endorses the quality of training we provide to support international industry.

“TTE has a strong reputation around the world for delivering skills, competencies and qualifications that are applicable to modern industry sectors such as energy, chemicals and utilities.  This report will give international companies increased confidence that the technicians they send to TTE will return to become valuable members of their workforces.”

Sara added: “The projects TTE undertakes to support international industry has a direct and positive effect on the training of young people in the North East.  The surpluses we make from our commercial activities is reinvested to allow us to train more young people and is part of our commitment to improve industry performance and enhance lives.”
