Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Innovative Workshop for Run Leaders

209A special workshop for newly qualified run leaders took place last week.

The free two hour workshop which was CPD accredited (Continuing Professional Development) gave local leaders the knowledge and tools to create successful running groups within Hambleton.

The night included presentations from England Athletics and a North Yorkshire Sport Running Mentor who passed on their excellent knowledge and experience regarding setting up running groups.

“The workshop is an integral part of our “Running Hub” programme” said David Earl Hambleton District Council’s Development Officer – Health and Wellbeing.

“It was the first of its kind in the country and we are pleased that England Athletics and North Yorkshire Sport were keen to come along and build on the work that we are doing and to pass on their expertise to enable us to encourage more people to set up running groups and to run !!

Runners also had the opportunity to speak to like-minded people and share ideas and support. Representatives from six local running groups took part in the evening workshop – including Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers and Swaledale Road Runners.
