Local housebuilder to open nine new sites in 2017, supporting 260 extra jobs

Five star housebuilder, Barratt Developments North East, has announced it is to build 12% more homes in 2017, with the launch of nine new developments across the region.

This will support 260 extra local jobs next year across all disciplines, with this increase reflecting both the health of the local housing market and an upswing in the regional economy.

New developments launching in 2017 include The Drive at Mount Oswald in Durham, Bedewell Court in Hebburn, Burdon Green in Coxhoe, The Grove at Wynyard Park and Five Acres, which is expected in June 2017, consisting of 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes located in the market town of Barnard Castle.

Other launches include developments in North Gosforth Park, Cherry Knowle in Ryhope, as well as new phases at The Maples in Hebburn and The Rise in Scotswood, Newcastle.

The 260 new roles will be across all disciplines from skilled construction roles such as bricklayers, electricians and landscapers through to head office support positions.

Furthermore, not only is Barratt Developments North East aiding in the creation of new jobs to the region, it also continuing to make a conscious effort to support the local environment During 2016, 22,700 trees or shrubs were planted or retained on developments, with 99% of construction waste being recycled.
