Lotus today announces a landmark moment in its electrification strategy: the introduction of Europe’s first and only hybrid technology capable of delivering 952 PS, paired with a combined driving range exceeding 1,200 km and up to 350 km of pure electric range. This breakthrough platform—called X Hybrid—will make its European debut in the upcoming Lotus ELETRE X, expanding the Eletre family and setting a new benchmark for electric‑first performance mobility.
The X Hybrid system made its global debut in China within the local‑market SUV known as Lotus FOR ME, which serves as the reference prototype for the technology. All technical data referenced in this release relates exclusively to the FOR ME model. European specifications for ELETRE X will be published at a later date closer to the official European launch in June 2026. Delivery expected in Q4 2026. UK customer delivery expected shortly afterwards.

At the core of the X Hybrid system is an exceptionally strong 150 kW generator, capable of producing up to ~25 kWh per hour in suitable conditions. It can replenish the battery on the move, sustain charge during cruising and support sudden power demands—helping keep performance consistent on long journeys.

The reference platform features front and rear PMSM motors for a combined system output up to 700 kW / 952 PS and 935 Nm, enabling 0–100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. Even around 20% battery SOC, the system can deliver up to ~550 kW—supporting demanding scenarios such as mountain‑pass overtakes.
3) EXTREME CHARGING
The platform supports ultra‑fast DC charging from 20% to 80% in approximately 9 minutes thanks to the 900V / 6C architecture, complemented by four levels of regenerative braking to recoup energy in everyday driving. (Actual charging times depend on charger capability, temperature and initial SOC.)
4) EXTENDED RANGE
Working together, battery and fuel unlock a combined driving range well above 1,200 km. The EV‑only range is up to ~350 km, allowing most daily journeys to be completed in full‑electric mode. The system is underpinned by a 70 kWh battery and a 52 L fuel tank.
5) Handling & Chassis: True Lotus Dynamics
Technology showcased in FOR ME demonstrates the platform’s ability to deliver unmistakable Lotus handling:
- 48V active anti‑roll bar delivering up to 1,400 Nm with ~10 ms response and a target roll angle <1.5°/g.
- Active rear spoiler with four positions (Closed / 18° / 32° / 34°), generating up to 120 kg of downforce depending on mode (Aero, Downforce, Braking).
- Brembo 6‑piston front brakes, 33.9 m 100–0 km/h stopping and rapid thermal recovery.
- Dual‑chamber air suspension with dual‑valve dampers reacting in as little as 2 ms, balancing comfort with sharp dynamic control; front double wishbone layout.
- Lotus‑developed tyres tuned for wet adhesion and high‑speed stability to harness the platform’s up to 952 PS potential.
