ARC, in association with Youth Directions, is delighted to welcome a new intake of participants to Matty’s Bistro from Wednesday, 1st November.
Matty’s Bistro is a unique and award-winning catering and hospitality programme for young people at a crossroads in their lives. A six-week project running every Wednesday and Thursday between 1st November and 7th December, Matty’s Bistro gives opportunities to young people aged between 16 and 19 who are currently not in education, employment, or training (NEET) and challenges them to contribute to real culinary events with real customers and real quality of delivery in mind.
Over the course, the participants will:
Learn to cook
Meet potential employers
Obtain a City & Guilds Qualification
Build a portfolio
Get CV guidance
Over the last 4 years, Matty’s Bistro has helped many people find work in sectors including catering, hospitality, retail, and more. Throughout their time with Matty’s Bistro participants have been taught valuable work skills in an
exciting and applied way.
The course is run by Matty Brown, who runs his own Stockton based catering company, Matthew Brown Catering, and is the former head chef of The Bay Horse, Hutton Rudby.
Motivating participants is an integral part of Matty’s Bistro, with guidance and encouragement being offered as well as help with CVs, introductions to employers and, in many cases, eventual employment or next step training. All participants will receive a Level 2 City and Guilds qualification in Food and a portfolio of work completed as part of the course to exhibit to future employers.
