New Outdoor Gym for Roseworth: Come and Give it a Try!

ROSEWORTH residents wishing to get physically active in 2018 can do so easily and free of charge after a new outdoor gym was officially opened by Councillor Jim Beall, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health.

The brand new equipment, which is suitable for people aged 16 years and over, has been installed by the Council in the grounds of Kiora Hall on Ragpath Lane.

The colourful, easy-to-use equipment enables residents to try out a wide range of exercises to boost their health and well-being and is suitable for group training as well as people wishing to train on their own. It also displays details of an app which users can download to create an individualised exercise programme.

Councillor Beall said: “This new outdoor gym will help people in Roseworth be more physically active and has the added bonus of improving the mental wellbeing of those participating too.  The equipment provides a free, accessible and flexible way to exercise and allows families and friends, as well as fellow trainers, to exercise together.”

The outdoor gym project was funded by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, Roseworth Big Local and Thirteen, with equipment supplied by sports and leisure company, Kompan.

Roseworth Big Local has commissioned Tees Active, which runs the Borough’s leisure centres, to hold classes at the gym help people make the most of the new equipment and improve their health and wellbeing.

People wishing to get support from Tees Active’s health team to use the equipment can do so free of charge. Booking is not necessary but residents can visit www.facebook.com/RoseworthFitness to view the outdoor gym timetable or contact the team via email referral@teesactive.co.uk or telephone 01642 526740.
