North East Cyber Security Business Flying High After Relocation to Airport Freightway Cyber Hub

North East based cyber security firm, Security Risk Management Ltd (SRM) is expanding its position in the thriving local technology sector with new premises at the Airport Freight Village next to Newcastle International Airport.

The security firm’s new commercial base provides additional space to support ambitious growth plans over the next two years. In the business’s first month at the Airport Freightway, SRM succeeded in winning 12 new high-value contracts from national and international clients, who have a combined turnover in excess of £1 billion.

The new office features twice as much space for consultants, dedicated laboratory facilities for forensic work and increased capacity for test and exercise projects.

SRM Chief Executive Officer, Tom Fairfax, says,

“Expansion was essential to provide the team with both space and facilities to grow our business throughout the UK.  Being just minutes from Newcastle International Airport enables our consultants to travel around the country with ease to meet the needs of our growing client roster.

“We are fortunate to be joining a number of other tech businesses at the Airport Freightway, which is fast developing a reputation as a Cyber Hub, and we hope that we can collaborate more closely in the future.”

Security Risk Management, which offers a comprehensive range of information security services, such as incident response, vulnerability testing, payment card industry compliance, ISO27001 support and GDPR consultancy, has been based in the Newcastle area for nearly two decades. The company has an impressive portfolio of clients, past and present, which includes Government departments, FTSE 100 organisations, charities and high-profile tech start-ups.

SRM Chief Operations Officer, James Hopper, says,

“Modern enterprises are developing increasingly complex and fragile digital estates. As the awareness surrounding cyber threats grows and the need for experienced and seasoned cyber security experts is acknowledged at board level, we believe we have an important role to play at SRM. Whether it’s business continuity consultancy or penetration testing, we can help organisations to reduce their risk profile and comply with industry standards.

“We believe that expanding into new headquarters has an important role to play in helping us realise our strategic objectives within the business and enjoy long-term success.”
