The largest gaming venue in the North East has opened in Sunderland, providing gaming enthusiasts a cool new place to hang out with friends and fellow gamers. Harry’s Game Shack, found upstairs in Geeky’s, opened in February offering visitors a large selection of retro, PC, Xbox and PlayStation games to play.

In Harry’s Game Shack’s gaming arena, they provide gamers a combination of PC and Xbox ONE gaming screens in addition to PlayStation driving simulators and massive 300” 4K projector screen. Visitors can pay £5 for an hour, £8 for two hours or £20 for a whole day of unlimited gaming fun.

In addition to this gaming arena, it also has a relaxed café area where visitors can buy food and drink, as well as play on a large range of cool retro games including Pac-Man, Super Mario and Street Fighter, all for free.

Harry Knott, who manages the venue, and is an Instagram gaming ambassador said: ‘It’s always been my dream to run a gaming venue like this. It’s brilliant to be able to provide a cool and inviting place for people who love gaming to hang out, play video games with their friends, and meet new people with similar interests.”

Rob Davison, the owner of Geeky’s and Harry’s Game Shack said: “I’m thrilled with how the Game Shack has turned out. It all started with me having a huge space upstairs and wanting to do something productive with it. When we came up with the idea, I knew straight away that people were going to love it.”

The venue has already hosted multiple parties and been so popular in its opening weeks that they have had to increase their opening hours to keep up with their high demand.

Not only this, but they also hold regular gaming tournaments where gamers can compete playing on their favourite video games to prove who is the best and win prizes.

Harry Knott added: “We’ve already had a few parties which have filled our capacity. The gaming tournaments that we’ve also had so far have been incredibly popular. Just recently we had a free Mario Kart tournament and the place was packed! We’re looking forward to hosting many more and are always wanting to hear from our customers as to what they would like to see next.”

Becca, a customer who has visited Harry’s Game Shack multiple times said: “The place is amazing, I haven’t been anywhere like it. I was amazed at what they had to offer and was so excited at the choice of retro games when I first came. As someone who was raised on a SNES, original PlayStation and old arcade games like Pac-Man, all the games available here gave me such strong nostalgia. I have said to myself so many times that I’ll only come for an hour and have ended up staying the entire day.”

Graham, another regular said: “It’s a fun friendly environment here, the staff are great and incredibly helpful. I love the large selection of games and consoles in the gaming arena.”

Upcoming gaming tournaments at Harry’s Game Shack include a Fornite: Survival of the Fittest tournament on Sunday 18 March, and a FIFA 18 tournament on Saturday 24 March.
