A LEADING North East construction firm has relocated its drainage services division into a new flagship facility in Middlesbrough.
Part of The Owen Pugh Group, HCS Drain Services, which has rebranded to Owen Pugh Drain Services in line with the move, has relocated into a 10,000 sq ft warehouse facility on Raleigh Court, Riverside Park to further cement the Group’s foothold in Tees Valley.
Owen Pugh Drain Services undertakes specialist work to help minimise the impact of severe flooding and offers services including CCTV sewer surveys, drain relining, confined space entry and drain repairs and installation, to local authorities, utilities firms and private businesses. The company employs 41 staff based between Teesside and Owen Pugh’s Blaydon premises to service clients throughout the region.
The new facility offers additional space to enable future expansion and extra vehicle parking for Owen Pugh Drain Services’ fleet of 24 specialist vehicles and vans. It also offers a more visible presence for the Owen Pugh Group within Tees Valley where it is strengthening its foothold with work underway for utility forms, local authorities, large civil engineering contractors and facilities management companies.
Robin Armstrong, Group Logistics Director for Owen Pugh, said: “The move was a natural progression for Owen Pugh’s drainage arm having outgrown its base in Portrack Lane, Stockton which had served us well for five years. The move to Raleigh Court in Middlesbrough provides additional space, and, as an empty shell, it means we can adapt the facility to better meet the needs of the wider Owen Pugh business and provides a flagship facility within the Tees Valley.”
To coincide with the move, Owen Pugh has taken the decision to rebrand the division to Owen Pugh Drainage Services to better communicate its position as part of the wider group.
Paul Cockburn, general manager of Owen Pugh & Co Ltd which is responsible for the company’s drainage services business, said: “Since HCS Drain Services was established over 12 years ago the wider Owen Pugh business has grown significantly with several new divisions added in recent years. We therefore felt that the time was right to ensure there was no ambiguity around the ownership of the drainage arm, so we have rebranded as Owen Pugh Drain Services to align with the wider business.”
The Owen Pugh Group comprises five trading companies operating in the civil engineering industry, undertaking earthmoving and demolition, drainage and groundworks, plant-hire and haulage, quarrying, inert waste and drain cleaning, and CCTV surveys. The group is headquartered in Dudley North Tyneside, with other bases in Cramlington, Blaydon and at Marsden Quarry near Sunderland. The company employs over 400 staff across its business.
