Polaris continues its partnership with Xtremeplus team ahead of Dakar 2023

Polaris Off Road Vehicles is pleased to announce the renewal of its partnership with Xtremeplus for the 2022 racing season and the 2023 Dakar Rally.

Led by Marco Piana, the French team has been a longstanding partner of Polaris since 2005 when the team owner decided to enrol a team of ATVs in the Morocco Rally before entering the Dakar Rally. When the Dakar moved to South America, Piana entered a team of four ATVs which was the start of a successful and long-lasting adventure between Xtremeplus and Polaris.

Since then, the Xtremeplus team has always returned to compete in the Dakar Rally and many other championships and races like the Silk Way Rally, always with Polaris vehicles.

Polaris and Xtremeplus can boast many successes along this journey: In 2013, Willy Alcaraz defended his Dakar title behind the steering wheel of the Polaris RZR Turbo, winning the T3 crown that year and three times more since. In 2016, the Italian duo of the former WRC driver Michele Cinotto and Maurizio Dominella won the side-by-side category in the Dakar Rally, and in 2017, it was the turn of Leandro Torres to win the Dakar in the side-by-side category. Not only that, but the partnership has brought many achievements within the FIA World Championships too.

“It is with great satisfaction that we can announce the renewal of the partnership with Polaris,” states Marco Piana. “We are proud to be a satellite team with factory support, a reference for Polaris on the rally scene. Together we can celebrate 6 wins on the Dakar and several titles in the FIA T3 world championship”.

Polaris and Xtremeplus will tackle the 2022 FIA European Cup for Cross-Country Bajas in the following rounds with a Polaris RZR Pro XP:

  • Italian Baja (8-10 July)
  • Spanish Baja (22-25 July)
  • Hungarian Baja (1-3 August)
  • Baja Poland (2-6 September)

They will compete in the Africa Eco Race from 16-30 October, and they will be at the start of the 2023 Dakar in Saudi Arabia.
