Yarm Preparatory School has handed over more than of £700 to Macmillan Cancer Support following an incredibly successful charity bake sale.

The event raised a record amount of £743.69 compared to last year’s total of £477 and over 20 volunteers helped to sell a large number of cakes.

The pupils and volunteers who were involved in the bake sale presented the funds to Macmillan representatives, who were incredibly grateful to receive such a generous donation.

Bill Sawyer, Head of Yarm Preparatory School, said: “I’m very proud to have been able to support this incredible cause with the pupils and volunteers of Yarm Preparatory School.

“Macmillan does fantastic things to support people living with cancer and their families, and to know that our fundraising will help to support those in need is very humbling.”

Lauren Farrow, Macmillan Information and Support Centres Business Manager at South Tees said: “The donation we’ve received from Yarm Preparatory School is truly amazing.

“We rely on the donations from kind hearted members of the public and businesses to ensure that we’re able to continue to carry out the life changing work that we do and we’d like to thank everyone at Yarm Prep School for their efforts.
