An inimitable Teesside business woman is putting her 37 years of experience behind a new venture with the support of accountancy firm, Anderson Barrowcliff.
Chey Garland CBE, founder and CEO of the North East’s largest contact centre business has recently burst back into business with the launch of Ergo3; a firm creating bespoke energy plans and management for businesses across the UK.
Ms Garland started her first business – a debt collection and credit management firm – at the age of 23 and since then has founded a number of successful businesses across a range of different sectors.
“I could see the future of energy changing and, with a busy market of over 4,500 energy brokerages, I wanted to create a consultancy that would run with its customers’ needs at the core,” said Ms Garland, who was awarded a CBE for services to North East business in 2007.
By following the stock market and monitoring live prices, along with its buying power, Ergo3 is able to find the most competitive packages for customers. This, alongside its state of the art, cloud-based and mobile-enabled software gives clients the chance to monitor their usage, meaning the Company can provide accurate billing and recommendations on a personalised basis.
“Everything we do is aimed at making the process easier for our customers, with a personalised service, dedicated account manager on hand when needed and everything in one place. This saves both money and time, enabling customers to focus on running their business,” said Ms Garland.
Undergoing rapid expansion, Ergo3 has trebled its headcount in the last quarter to a team with considerable experience within the energy sector, and plans to fill 100 further roles over the next 12 months.
Anderson Barrowcliff partner, James Dale, has supported Ms Garland in this venture offering assistance with forecasting and fundraising. Of the partnership, he said: “It’s been an honour for the firm to work with Ms Garland for the duration of her career as an entrepreneur and to be involved in the varied and exciting businesses she creates.”
With such a long history together, Ms Garland finds the support of the Company invaluable to her operation. She said: “The team at Anderson Barrowcliff is very well connected which is tremendously helpful. Everyone we’ve worked with is incredibly responsive and brings strategic insight to the business. We have worked so closely together for so many years, there is a real pastoral influence.”
