PUBS and restaurants across the North East are raising a glass to the Rugby World Cup with a series of special deals and offers.
Throughout the six week tournament, which began on Friday, with England’s victory against Fiji and ends with the final, at Twickenham, on 31 October, fans will be able to celebrate for less at venues in Jesmond, Gosforth, Cullercoats and Ryton.
The Runhead Bar and Grill, Holburn Lane, Ryton; the Sandpiper, Farringdon Road, Cullercoats, the Three Mile Inn, Gosforth, The Market Lane, Newcastle and Osbornes, Osborne Road, Jesmond, are all offering a four pint line out of Guinness for £12.
Fans heading for the Three Mile Inn can also enjoy four bottles of Heineken for £10, while Osbornes is running a series of food and drink sharing packages, which include prime seating for screenings of the games.
And, on Saturday 3 October, when England plays Australia, The Sandpiper, Cullercoats, will host an evening barbecue, when customers can enjoy a burger and a pint for £8.95.
“Rugby has a great following in the region and even people who don’t normally follow the sport have told us that they’ll be watching the England matches,” said Atul Malhotra, director of The Malhotra Group plc, which owns the venues.
“The atmosphere’s going to be incredible, particularly if England gets to the final.”
