Residents in Ryedale are continuing to make savings and win prizes thanks to the power of collective energy switching.

Householders are getting a better deal on their energy bills through the council’s switching partner iChoosr. The scheme is free to use, without obligation and makes it easy for people to switch energy provider, meaning many families are able to fix their energy prices for the year ahead.

The current period of registration to take part in the scheme is open until 10 October. People can register online at scarborough.gov.uk/energyswitching or attend the following drop-in registration event being held by Choices4Energy at Ryedale District Council, Ryedale House, Old Malton Road, Malton:

 Monday 10 October 10.00am to 1.00pm

When registering online or in person at one of the drop-in events, people should have with them recent energy bill(s), ideally based on actual meter readings, so that they can provide details on how much energy they currently use and who they pay their bills to.

Helen Stead, Scarborough Borough Council Choices4Energy Advisor said:

“We’re hoping for another really successful auction. Last time people registering were able to make great savings on their energy bills, with one resident saving a huge £730 per year.”

Anyone who registers for the collective energy switch scheme is being entered into a weekly prize draw to win an energy efficient kettle. The latest prize winner, Mr Calcraft, said:

“I read about it in a national newspaper then looked for any local collective switching schemes. I think it’s brilliant and really good for saving money.”

The prize draw will take place every week throughout the current registration period.
