A young Leeds apprentice will be engineering a brighter career after winning a prestigious scholarship to support his professional studies.
Twenty-year-old Archie Dalton, a civil engineer apprentice with Park Place RWO Associates, has won an Institution of Civil Engineers Quest Technician Plus Scholarship, worth up to £1,000.
The talented youngster, who works with leading house builders across Leeds and Yorkshire, providing civil engineering services, tender support and planning design, is set to use the cash boost to fund his professional studies at Leeds College of Building.
He won the scholarship after impressing the engineering trade body with his leadership and team skills, personal qualities, initiative and determination.
Considered highly prestigious, only a handful of technician students are awarded the scholarship each year before going onto to pursue engineering careers.
Archie Dalton is part of an 18-strong team at RWO Associates, which provides civil engineering services covering road design, external works and drainage works, and is on target to turnover in excess of £1.75m in the next 12 months.
Managing director Ross Oakley, said the firm is committed to investing in young engineering talent to secure the quality of services provided to customers.

A delighted Archie Dalton added: “There are many more pathways into our profession, including an apprenticeship. You can earn while you learn, and I now very much look forward to starting my studies later this year – the extra cash will be a big help.”
