Christmas arrives early at a County Durham museum this weekend with two days of magical festive family fun.
Killhope: the North of England Lead Mining Museum’s annual Letters to Santa Weekend, takes place on Saturday, 14 and Sunday, 15 November from 10.30am to 3.30pm.
Young visitors will be able to write a letter to Santa that will then be delivered by one of his highly trained owls – after they’ve put on a flying display.
There will also be seasonal papercraft activities, tours of the museum’s Victorian mine and traditional tunes performed by the Ran Tanners street musicians.
And after all that fun, there’ll be hot chocolate with marshmallows to warm everyone up.
Admission is £5 per person and free for children under four. Please note that mine trips are not suitable for the under-fours.
Booking is not required and families are advised to wear sturdy footwear. Annual passes are not valid for this event.
