Signs Your Vape Needs Fixing

A popular pastime for many, vaping is going from strength to strength, but like any electronic device, vapes occasionally require maintenance. Knowing when your vape needs a repair can prevent unexpected breakdowns, poor performance, and even potential health risks. Here are the top signs to look out for.

Less Vapour Production

If you’ve noticed a decline in the amount of vapour your device produces, it could be a sign that it’s time for a fix. Vapes depend on heating elements to turn e-liquid into vapour, and these components can wear out over time. Low vapour production may indicate that the coil has become clogged or burned out and may need replacement. Alternatively, if you use a device with an adjustable wattage, check that you’re using the appropriate power settings. If adjusting the settings doesn’t solve the issue, it may be time for a new coil or even a thorough cleaning of the device.

Changes in Flavour

When a vape functions properly, it delivers clean and consistent flavour from your e-liquid. If you begin to notice an odd, burnt, or metallic taste, it’s often a clear sign that something is amiss. Burnt flavours typically indicate that the coil has reached the end of its lifespan. Coils need to be replaced regularly, as they tend to burn out after several days or weeks of usage, depending on the frequency and intensity of your vaping habits. If a new coil doesn’t improve the flavour, the issue might lie with the wick or another internal component.

Leaking E-Liquid

A vape that leaks e-liquid can create a messy, inconvenient experience and may even damage the device’s internal components if not addressed. Leakage often results from improperly screwed tanks or worn-out seals, which can degrade over time. Make sure to check all seals and O-rings for any signs of wear, cracking, or damage. Additionally, overfilling the tank can also lead to leaks. If you continue to experience leakage even after ensuring correct assembly and reasonable e-liquid levels, it may be time to get professional repair or replacement parts.

Difficulty Inhaling

If you’re finding it harder to take a draw from your vape, there might be a clog or build-up within the device. This is often due to residue accumulating inside the mouthpiece or along the airpath. Sometimes, cleaning the device is enough to restore airflow. However, if you find that clogs are frequent, it may indicate that the coil, wick, or even the pod could be causing the issue, and a more thorough inspection or replacement may be required. Buying replacement vape pods from reputable retailers might be enough to fix this.

Battery Issues

Battery problems are one of the most common issues for vape users. If your vape isn’t charging correctly, loses its charge quickly, or heats up excessively, the battery could be damaged. Battery degradation is normal over time, especially with heavy usage, but ignoring these issues can lead to safety risks. Regularly check for any visible signs of damage, such as dents or leaks in the battery casing. In cases where your vape won’t turn on at all, it may be necessary to replace the battery or charger.

Unusual Noises

While a gentle hiss from a vape is normal, loud popping, crackling, or spitting sounds are signs that something isn’t working as it should. This can happen if there’s too much e-liquid in the coil or if the coil is positioned incorrectly. Excessive noise can also be a sign of a poorly functioning coil or airflow imbalance. Regularly cleaning and reassembling your device properly can help minimise these issues.

If you encounter any issues that you’re unsure how to fix, consult your vape’s manual or visit a professional repair service to ensure safe and effective maintenance.
