Squad Named for Singha Premiership Rugby 7s Finals

Newcastle_Falcons_logo.svgNewcastle Falcons have announced the squad that will travel to the Twickenham Stoop for this Friday’s Singha Premiership Rugby 7s finals night, showing a number of new faces from the roster that dominated the Group D tournament at Kingston Park.

Seb Ferreira and Tom Penny will join fellow Falcons Callum Chick, Joe Craggs and Dan Marshall in the line up, while trialist Joe Nayacavou retains his place in the match day 12.

The line up is once again supplemented by 7s experience with Scott Riddell, Gavin Lowe, James Fleming and Jamie Farndale returning following impressive showings in the Falcons shirt last weekend.

Joining the squad as guests for the round, Northumbria University student Donald Crawford and 7s specialist Michael Fedo, who was a runner up at the World Club 7s last weekend with the Samurai team.

Speaking about Finals night, coach Mark Laycock said “There were some very impressive performances by the guys last weekend, particularly our persistence and the way we finished each game strongly.”

“With some very good teams qualifying for the Finals we’ll need to dig deeper to progress and to achieve what we want to as a group but with a good balance of experience and young, hungry talent, we are giving ourselves a good platform to build on.”
