Eye-catching graffiti will emblazon the walls of a Northumberland school thanks to the creative flare of pupils.
Students from across Ashington High School got to grips with the art form in a series of lessons with professional graffiti artist Rob Hutchinson.
Celebrating National Biology Week, 20 pupils created large murals depicting fundamental ideas in biology, chemistry and physics.
Using techniques such as drop shadowing and 3D lettering they designed stem cells, test tubes and chromosomes which all feature in the striking images.
All five of the murals will decorate the corridors of the science departments at Ashington High School on Green Lane.
Jill Traynor, Biology Subject Lead at the school, said: “The idea was to create something reflecting the different sciences in an imaginative and creative way.
“It was the first time we have worked with a professional graffiti artist in school and the enthusiasm from students was fantastic. They’ve taken real pride in the work they’ve created.
“The project was a joint effort across the science, art, design and technology and senior leadership departments and has been very well received.”
The three metre by one metre designs were created by pupils in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 over five hours.
