Leading entrepreneurs from across a range of different sectors will take centre stage at one of the most anticipated business events in the region when the Entrepreneurs’ Forum hosts its annual conference.
‘Together We Can Take on the World’ will see inspirational speakers, including an ex-SAS soldier turned businessman, a former Microsoft executive, the founder of an international healthy snack company and the man behind London’s largest independent plumbing and service company, give an insight into their successes at The Sage in Gateshead.
The event, which takes place exactly a week after the General Election, promises plenty of laughs with BBC Radio Newcastle’s presenter Alfie Joey on hand to introduce the key note speakers and entertain guests.
Decorated former Parachute Regiment and SAS soldier and ex-head of the Counter Terrorist Unit, Floyd Woodrow, will draw upon his experiences in the field and how he went on to become a director in the oil & gas and technology sectors before founding Britam Defence Ltd, a world leading risk management and training consultancy, and Chrysalis Worldwide, which supports the development of elite teams and individuals.
Richard Tait, a former Microsoft executive and co-developer of the popular, worldwide board game Cranium, will also be one of the key speakers. After selling Cranium Inc. for $77m to Hasbro in 2008, Richard has since created ‘Golazo’ – the sports energy drink, which is endorsed by Pele.
Natural Balance Foods founder, Jamie Combs, who also worked in the marketing department at Baskin Robbins, will talk about his entrepreneurial experiences and how he has grown the company and its N?kd range of cereal bars and snacks to be household names in supermarkets across the UK and the world.
Charlie Mullins, founder of Pimlico Plumbers, which he started in 1979 in the basement of an estate agents with a second-hand van and a bag of tools, will also share his experiences on how he has built it to become an £25 million turnover company and London’s premier plumbing and services firm, which counts Daniel Craig and Helen Mirren among its clientele.
Gillian Marshall, chief executive of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, said: “We are delighted with the response we have had so far for the conference, which just goes to show how well-received the event is in the business community here in the North East. It is one of our most diverse speaker line-ups to date; featuring national and international entrepreneurs from a range of different sectors, and is going to be an exciting event at one of the most iconic buildings in the region.”
The conference takes place at The Sage, Gateshead, on Thursday, May 14, from 8am to 5pm. Tickets cost £99 (+VAT) for members of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum.
