CUSTOMERS at a leading Newcastle venue can enjoy a range of sandwiches, soups and bagels for less, when it takes part in NE1 Restaurant Week for the first time next week (13-19 Jan).

Claremont Teahouse, at Eldon Place, is renowned for its home baked goods and its huge selection of exotic and international teas.

And now it has devised two special offers, priced at just £15 each for the annual event from 13 to 19 January.

A highlight of the Teahouse’s menu is filled bagels from its sister venue Dot Bagels, which has outlets at Jesmond and Heaton and the first £15 offer includes a bagel, with hash pops – round potato bites – and sweet treat.

The bagels included in the deal are the Morning After, with a filling of maple glazed bacon and cream cheese and the NFC, with Nashville fried buttermilk chicken, buffalo sauce, green goddess slaw, gherkins, chives and ranch sauce.

Also included are Salt on Chilli Road, with salt and chilli fried chicken, pickled sesame slaw, gochujang mayo, fried onion and fresh chilli and Banging Bhaji; a combination of onion bhaji, garlic and mint sauce, pickled red onion, mango chutney and crushed poppadoms.

Vegan options are also available while plain or cheesy hash pops are also included, along with any sweet treat from the counter, including brownies, homemade cakes and scones.

The second offer comprises soup of the day with sourdough bread, a sandwich and one of the above sweet options, again for just £15.

The sandwich fillings include Posh Fish Finger, made with haddock goujons, lettuce and tartare sauce in a brioche bun and beef and pork meatballs in a rich tomato sauce with pesto and mozzarella in focaccia.

Also included in the offer are the Green Goddess – an open sandwich of grilled Mediterranean vegetables with pesto and halloumi and the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich with tomatoes, baby gem lettuce and basil mayo in a ciabatta roll.

Claremont Teahouse is part of the Northern Bar Management portfolio of venues which, along with Dot Bagels at Heaton and Jesmond, includes the renowned Northumberland Arms, at Felton and The Blackbird at Ponteland.

And owner Stuart Young said he was “pleased” the venue – which also houses its own secret cinema space – has been included in Restaurant Week.

“We are always hugely supportive of initiatives which shine a spotlight on the fantastic food and drink offerings in the city centre and look forward to welcoming new customers to join our growing band of regulars,” he said.

The offers are available from 12.30pm onwards each day of Restaurant Week and more information can be found at www.claremontteahouse.com or via NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week at Claremont Teahouse | Get into Newcastle | Get into Newcastle
