image001Staff at TT2 Limited, operator of the Tyne Tunnels, are going for gold as they look to build upon their NHS Better Health at Work Silver Award.

A team made up of staff are being supported in their training to compete in triathlon events, while TT2 Ltd runs a number of activities aimed at supporting employee wellbeing.

Health checks are regularly delivered to staff on site, during the working day, whilst the company also has a cycling club and offers gym membership as part of its employment package.

Rachel Turnbull, Chief Executive of TT2 Limited, said: “A healthy workforce is important to us at TT2 Limited, because we care for our staff and their wellbeing.

“We are very proud to have won the NHS Better Health at Work Silver Award, but we know we can do even better and are looking at a number of ways that we can support the team even more.

“It is also important for productivity, because it reduces absences that are caused by ill health.

“Additionally, if our staff know we care and see that we are supporting their health, they are better engaged employees and more likely to stay with us, leading to retained skills and knowledge that contribute to the successful running of the business.

“The fact that almost a quarter of our staff have worked at the Tyne Tunnels for 30 years or more illustrates the value of being a good employer.”
