North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Tyneside firm expands into the south

Infinite PlaygroundsA North East-based play company, which supplies natural playground equipment to public spaces, is set to expand into the south, opening its first workshop in Brighton.

Infinite Playgrounds, which began its life in Tyneside, has grown rapidly from its Northern roots, designing and installing equipment for over 500 parks and public spaces across the country, and has recently opened its first South East base in Heathfield.

Its creations, using environmentally sourced hard woods and other natural materials, aim to introduce an element of risk, without danger, into children’s play and have so far achieved revenues of £2.5m.

The company was established by artists Helen Law and Sam McGeever who met while working on an ‘Arts in Schools’ project on Tyneside.

Co-company founder Helen Law said: “With much of our work now taking us beyond our North East home it has become essential to establish a South East base to help us maintain our momentum.

“We are seriously looking for a base in or around Brighton. The town has a ‘mini-London’ feel to it and it should be the ideal location for a creative company such as ourselves.

“Our aim is to double our production capacity by replicating what we have achieved on Tyneside. We would aim to have our Brighton base fully functioning within 24 months.”

The new location will create 40 jobs in the Brighton area.
