BREAKFAST lovers looking to enjoy a tasty start to the day without the worry of the washing up are flocking to one of the North East’s most luxurious spas.

The Spa at Ramside, based at Ramside Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa in County Durham, has become a popular spot for visitors dropping in to take advantage of its brunch menu.

Members and visitors alike can enjoy traditional breakfasts along with healthy alternatives in the Spa’s Fusion restaurant from 8-11am, with a large choice of food and hot drinks to set them up for the day.

Gym buffs and those watching what they eat can pick from a list of healthy options including scrambled egg whites with smoked salmon, egg white omelette with a choice of peppers, ham, tomato, cheese, mushroom or smoked salmon, a half grapefruit or a seasonal fruit platter with mint yoghurt.

There is also a choice of eight fresh smoothies made with nutritious, tasty ingredients to pack a healthy punch, along with granola and berries or granary farmhouse toast.

For diners looking for something traditional, the menu offers a selection of hot favourites such as Eggs Benedict, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, and omelette with a choice of two flavours.

Bigger appetites can be satisfied with the Spa breakfast, which includes grilled bacon, sausage, black pudding, plum tomato, sautéed mushrooms and egg or the vegetarian alternative which features meat-free sausage, spinach, mushrooms, tomato, baked beans and two eggs.

Even those with a sweet tooth are catered for, with pancakes or waffles served with either banana and mixed berries or streaky bacon and maple syrup, along with a choice of pastries and croissants. Coffees, teas and other hot drinks are also available.

“Our brunch menu is proving very popular with guests already, and we’ve had a fantastic response to both the traditional and the healthy alternatives,” said Fusion manager, Tom Hall.

“Some of our members and guests like to come in and hit the gym and spa early and then enjoy our healthy brunch options, and our smoothies are proving a big hit, too.

“But we’re also welcoming a lot of people into the spa just to take advantage of the menu. The healthy choices are always popular, but we are also seeing plenty of people who want something heartier coming in specifically to enjoy our bigger Spa Breakfast, pancakes and waffles.”
