Leading North East Law firm continues to grow

Screen Shot 2016-04-01 at 12.43.51A LEADING NORTH EAST law firm is continuing to build on its success, with the appointment of two new members to the team.

EMG Solicitors, based at The Rivergreen Centre, Durham have been joined by 39-year-old Samantha Edward as an Associate Solicitor (Wills, trusts and probate) and Ursula Collie, Consultant Solicitor for general litigation and disputes.

The latest recruits strengthen the range of expertise available at EMG, which was set up in 2014 by Court of Protection specialist Emma Gaudern.

Since launching, the practice has gone from strength to strength and expanded the areas it covers which include conveyancing, family law and Wills, trusts and probate.

Oxford Graduate Samantha, originally from Keswick, now lives in Newcastle and specialises in the drafting of Wills and Powers of Attorney, estate and trust administration, inheritance tax planning and asset protection.

She worked for Newcastle’s Ward Hadaway for a variety of clients from private individuals and business owners to farmers and trustees.

“I am thrilled to join EMG Solicitors and help build the excellent private client department that Emma has established,” she said.

Her words were echoed by Ursula, who first worked in Oxford before moving to the North East in 1996 to develop the civil litigation team at BHP Law.

She went on to become a partner at BHP in 1998 and remained there for many years, becoming Head of Civil Litigation and the firm’s registered complaints and claims handler.

“I have been really impressed with the way that EMG Solicitors are growing and how well respected they are,” said Ursula.

“I look forward to being part of the team and part of that growth going forward.”

Emma Gaudern said she was delighted that Sam and Ursula have joined the firm.

“Sam brings with her a wealth of technical and practical expertise in Wills, probate and tax planning which our clients will find invaluable,” said Emma.

“I have known Ursula for several years – clients praise her versatility in being able to handle disputes across a wide range of areas, as well as her down to earth approach.  I am sure that both solicitors will make an excellent contribution to the team.”

Emma, 39, has been working with Court of Protection cases for more than ten years and currently acts as deputy for 48 clients along with being a trustee for a further 15 trusts for compensation.

She is regularly instructed by claimants and defendants in compensation claims and acts as an advisor on assessing Court of Protection cost claims, to ensure they are fair.
