Money Matters in County Durham

Money Matters magazineCounty Durham Housing Group is telling tenants that it pays to read its latest free magazine.

The second issue of ‘Money Matters’ has been provided to around 18,500 households and aims to help customers get to grips with their finances and realise that with the right advice and support, managing the purse-strings doesn’t have to be a chore.

The 24-page guide includes information around the government’s welfare reform plans, as well as signposting to the additional support services provided by the group’s landlords – Dale & Valley Homes, Durham City Homes and East Durham Homes – and other key agencies.

Copies of the magazine, which is also available to download at www.countydurhamhousinggroup.co.uk/money-matters-2, have been posted with rent statements this month; and for the first time have been combined into one publication with each landlords’ local tenant newsletter.

Liz Bradley, Neighbourhoods Team Leader at Dale & Valley Homes, said: “As a group we are committed to providing people with as much information as possible to help them to sustain their tenancy.”

Durham City Homes’ Estates and Tenancy Manager, Carol Crathorne, echoed this view: “And for those who have money worries and need some additional support, it’s important for them not to suffer in silence, realise what support is available and get in touch.”

Julie Dower, East Durham Homes’ Tenancy Support Manager, concluded: “And by bringing our local newsletters together into one, people can see all of the good work taking place right on their doorstep at the same time.”
