Astravaganza Entertainment is thrilled to announce that applications are now open for its highly anticipated August 2024 production of ‘Annie’ The Musical. If you are passionate about performing arts, musical theatre, drama, singing, and dance, this summer school promises an enriching experience culminating in a full-scale production of the beloved musical.

Participants will have the opportunity to work intensively over two weeks, under the guidance of industry professionals, towards bringing ‘Annie’ to life on stage. Led by a team of seasoned experts including Producer Liam Glendinning, Director David Ducasse, Choreographer and Children’s Director Benjamin Mundy, who starred in the West End production of the show, Associate Choreographer Alexandra Waite-Roberts, Musical Director John Hudson, and Dance Captain Bekka Whaley, attendees will receive top-notch coaching and instruction.

Key Details:

  • Application Deadline: Applications will close at 20:00 on Wednesday 22nd May.
  • Audition Date: Initial auditions will be held on Saturday 25th May at Playhouse Whitley Bay.
  • Summer School Dates: The summer school will span three weeks, with Week 1 and Week 2 taking place at Decote Dance, Unit 39, Royal Quays Outlet, North Shields, NE29 6DW, and Week 3, including performances, at the Playhouse Whitley Bay.
  • Cost: £95 per week per junior child, £285 in total for three weeks. £70 per week per senior child, £210 in total for three weeks. Adult performers will have a one-off payment of £50 for costume hire.
  • Roles Available: Various roles for junior children (ages 7-13), senior children (ages 15-18), and adult performers. Principal roles such as Oliver Warbucks, Miss Hannigan, Lily St. Regis, and Rooster Hannigan are still open and interested individuals should contact Liam Glendinning (Producer) directly via email at astraents@gmail.com.

About the Auditions:

Auditions for principal and general orphan roles will require candidates to prepare specific songs from the musical. Junior children auditioning for principal roles should learn both ‘It’s A Hard Knock Life’ and ‘Tomorrow,’ while those auditioning for general orphan roles should prepare and learn ‘It’s A Hard Knock Life.’ Senior children auditioning for ensemble roles should prepare and learn a verse and chorus of ‘It’s A Hard Knock Life.’

Important Notes:

  • Interested individuals must be available for all dates and times listed above.
  • The role of ‘Sandy’ will be played by a real dog, so interested cast members should not have allergies or a fear of dogs.
  • Once registered for auditions, no further correspondence will be sent. Candidates should arrive at the audition venue at the specified time.
