HOTEL du Vin Newcastle, the boutique hotel located on the iconic Quayside, has unveiled a stunning new Bistro following a significant investment.
Ten years after the hotel first opened its doors, the Bistro’s new look reflects its nautical roots, with steely blue grey walls, bespoke furniture, light wood flooring, a newly-tiled open cook line and concealed lighting.
Originally home to the Tyne Tees Steam Ship Company, the hotel’s heritage is echoed throughout the hotel, from the ships’ ropes in the courtyard, to the porthole windows in the showers, and now the Bistro, with murals that are inspired by the building’s maritime past.
Enlisting the specialist hospitality expertise of Newcastle-based Dakota House of Design, it is the first venue in the Group portfolio to partner with the award-winning design company on the new Bistro concept.
Hotel du Vin Newcastle general manager Adam Green said: “We are thrilled with the new design; it perfectly blends our brand’s culture with the rich history that surrounds us on the Quayside. Our diners come to us for the fantastic food and drink we have to offer and the beautiful new Bistro setting will complement the whole dining experience.”
Peter Hodgson, director of Dakota House of Design, said: “This was a challenging brief for us as we wanted to make some quite significant changes without affecting the classic French bistro, atmospheric environment that Bistro du Vin is renowned for. The key was to move it forward whilst protecting its individual identity.”
The launch of the Bistro coincides with a new barbecue inspired menu available for private hire parties, including weddings, corporate functions and special family occasions.
Adam added: “The barbecue-style menu has been crafted with open-air cooking in mind to make the most of our spectacular outdoor terrace. We look forward to welcoming new faces and old friends to come and see the newly-refurbished Bistro and to taste our new menu offerings first-hand.”
