North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

The UK is a traveller’s paradise, here’s why

Every year, countless tourists land in the UK to spend some quality time with their near and dear ones. According to reports, London houses close to 7.5 million people, that’s more than 12% of the UK’s total population. Many of the Londoners are immigrants who have come from abroad. More than 300 different languages are spoken within London.

London happens to be a dream destination for many. It’s a popular honeymoon destination. In 2017, the UK had close to 39 million visitors.

Why go to the UK?

The value of the GB£ is declining constantly ever since the Brits voted in favour of the Brexit. A plunging Pound has acted as a blessing in disguise for the UK’s tourism industry. 2017 saw nearly 19 million overnight visitors in London alone. Some of the most popular European tourist destinations are located in the UK. The country happens to be a sports lover’s paradise. If you’re a die-hard cricket enthusiast, then you’ll love the UK.

County Cricket in the UK

England is the home of cricket. It houses as many as 18 first-class counties. If you travel to London, then do pay a visit to Lord’s, the Mecca of cricket. Two of the strongest Division 1 counties are based in London (Middlesex and Surrey). The county season begins in April and ends in the first week of October. If you get a chance to visit Leeds, then do watch the Roses Match. For all those who live and breathe cricket, the UK is the ideal tourist destination.

Football lovers aren’t far behind

The UK is not just about cricket. The most-watched football league in the world kicks off in August. Some of the most celebrated football clubs are based in the UK. Each year, football enthusiasts across the globe embark on a customary pilgrimage to some of the game’s greatest cathedrals. The Old Trafford, the home of the Manchester United FC, attracts a lot of fans from South-East Asia. Nearly 170 million Manchester United fans live in Asia.

The likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea are no less popular. The Premier League is the world’s most-watch football league. In other leagues across Europe, the title happens to be a matter of interest for just a couple of teams. For instance, Real Madrid and Barcelona are the two major contenders of the La Liga crown. Other teams (the likes of Valencia, Sevilla, and others) try to avoid relegation. There’s a huge gulf that separates the first three from the remaining teams in the competition. In 2018-19, Barcelona won the title, Atletico Madrid came second while Real Madrid stood third. Valencia stood a distant fourth.

In the Premier League, teams such as Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United are perpetual favourites. Tottenham and Leicester City are the dark horses. Manchester City is the reigning champion. All of these teams possess the necessary firepower to decimate the opponents. Football enthusiasts across the globe eagerly wait for the football season to get underway in the UK. It is time to buy Premier League hospitality packages
