SUNDERLAND RESTAURANT WEEK IS A GLOBAL ADVENTURE

FOOD lovers can experience the very best of world cuisine at a bargain price – and without ever having to leave Sunderland.

The city’s first Sunderland Restaurant Week of 2025 is taking place from 15 – 23 March, with more than 50 eateries taking part.

And for anyone who wants to enjoy a global culinary adventure, the week provides an opportunity to indulge.

Diners can try Turkish, Indian, Asian, Greek, Italian, Korean, Mexican, Vietnamese and Caribbean food across the week – as well as a whole host of British and American favourites.

Traditional pub grub and hearty favourites are also very much on the menu, with the special deals available at both lunchtimes and in in the evenings.

A range of well-loved cafes and bars are taking part in the event, with £10, £15 and £20 menus on offer at each venue.

Sunderland Restaurant Week is organised by Sunderland BID – which this time round is partnering with Sunderland City Council – with the aim of getting people to also discover what else they can do in the city, courtesy of the free Sunderland City app.

Anyone wanting to take advantage of the offers needs to go to sunderlandbid.co.uk/restaurant-week and download the discount vouchers.

Favourites such as Angelo’s, Asiana, My Delhi and Spent Grain are already on board, as are Rumour Has It, Port of Call, The Engine Room, The Botanist and ENFES.

Other city centre venues including Koji, NOBODY, Pho 179, Holiday Inn, Ivy House, Keel Tavern, Panda Garden  Mexico 70 hWendy’s Place, Gatsby’s, Esquires and Mumbai Silk.

Diners will also be able to choose from The Peacock, Silksworth’s The Scullery, The Shipwrights, The Stackyard and The Wavendon.

Sunderland’s largest food and drink hubs are supporting Restaurant Week again, with STACK Seaburn’s popular Greek outlet Acropolis, along with Soju and Goji doing a range of offers.

Food outlets at the Sheepfold Stables have also got behind the week, with Vito’s Osteria, Scream for Pizza, The Calabash Tree and Deep North accepting the discount vouchers.

Food businesses on the north side of the river have signed up in force including House of Zen, Marina Vista, Yard Nine, These Things Happen, Goa, The Mad Hatter, Tin of Sardines Tarantino’s and Grand Hotel.

Sharon Appleby, Chief Executive of Sunderland BID, said this restaurant week was an exciting reflection of the city’s fast-growing food scene.

“There is an amazing variety and choice of places to eat in the city centre,” she said.

“And Sunderland Restaurant Week shines a real spotlight on all of those places and gives everyone the opportunity to experience the great food that’s on offer.”
