ONE OF the North East’s most famous castles is inviting guests to dine like royalty with a new summer menu.
The talented team of chefs at Lumley Castle’s Black Knight Restaurant are serving up an array of new dishes for summer, making the most of local ingredients as well as introducing some exotic flavours.
Those dining at the restaurant in the coming months can choose from starters including scallop, crabmeat and coriander lasagne, slow roasted pork belly and ginger and coriander cured sea-reared trout.
To follow, the new main menu includes dishes like tournedos of Homer Hill Farm beef, fillet of Moroccan spiced stone bass and chicory endive tart tatin.
Diners can also opt for something from the chef’s selection of grills, all served with slow roasted tomatoes, triple cooked chips, French beans, shallots, truffle dressed rocket, parmesan shavings and a choice of sauces.
And to finish, the new dessert menu includes strawberry and Drambuie soufflé, warm dark chocolate brownie, pecan pie and a selection of local cheese and biscuits.
“I wanted to create a menu that was as exciting as the location of the restaurant,” said Christopher Delaney, head chef at Lumley Castle.
“The new dishes make the most of classic British ingredients as well as introducing some new flavours into the menu.
“The castle is a fantastic place to spend an evening and I hope people enjoy the dishes as much as I enjoyed creating them.”
