The Private Hill team have been celebrating the first couple to get engaged at the 5* luxury glamping North Yorkshire destination.
Philippa Bennington was delighted by a surprise proposal from her partner Josh Sayer on the balcony of the Debussy dome, during their recent short break.
The couple who are from Middlesbrough and are expecting their first child in October booked two nights at The Private Hill in Acklam near Malton, as they wanted a break before their baby arrives, and Philippa wanted to stay in the UK.
The Debussy is the adults only choice at The Private Hill, and is it a stunning five star room, complete with an ensuite shower room and kitchenette, all within a geodesic dome.
Complete with super kingsized bed, wood burning stove, luxury furniture, private Wi-Fi, Sonos music system and stunning views, it really offers a luxury break.
Philippa, who is from Marton in Middlesbrough and is now the proud owner of a Tiffany inspired bespoke heart shaped diamond ring, said:
“We absolutely loved The Private Hill and the Debussy dome. Josh’s proposal couldn’t have been more perfect and I was so surprised. What was really lovely was the next morning when we told the owner Roddy, whilst we had breakfast in The Private Hill café and bar, he was just as excited as I was!
“I can’t recommend this location as a break enough – you are at one with nature but with all the luxuries you can think of. The domes cooled down perfectly at night and I slept so well. The surrounding villages are just beautiful, we visited Malton, Pickering and Whitby. The whole experience is one I will truly treasure for the rest of my life!”
The Private Hill is the brainwave of Roddy Hamilton, who has invested £350,000 into the development to create a luxury glamping experience complete with onsite café and licensed bar. Open from 9am until 10pm for residents and 9am to 7pm for the public (everyday but Monday) the café and bar serves soft drinks, teas and coffees, cakes and light refreshments and from 12 noon serves wine, beers and selected spirits. Roddy said:
“The Debussy is incredibly romantic and ideal for couples, proposals, honeymoons and celebrations for grown ups.
“I am over the moon that Josh recognised that and chose it as his place for a once in a lifetime proposal! I am sure the lovely couple will be very happy and we hope they will return with their little one and to celebrate landmarks throughout their life in the future!”
