An acclaimed children’s author visited Stockton-on-Tees this week to share his love of writing with youngsters from across the Borough.
Will Mabbitt entertained around 250 school pupils with his unique brand of piratical fun inspired by the launch of his new thrilling adventure, Mabel Jones and the Forbidden City – the second book in the hilarious Mabel Jones series.
The session which took place at Grangefield Academy on Friday 12 February saw students from Years Four to Seven take part in animated storytelling and interactive, swashbuckling fun and games. Will also shared his top tips with the children, giving them ideas how to create their own pirate characters and write their own adventure stories.
Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “This event is the latest in a series of fantastic author events organised by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Libraries. There’s nothing better than listening to an author read their own work so this session was a thrilling opportunity for all the young people to meet an author in the flesh, take part in a fun storytelling experience and find out more about what it takes to be an author.”
